Lady Who Participated In Math Quiz Emerges As The Best Female Medical Student

CURSORY: Dr. Lilly Owusu Frimpong, the overall best graduating student stated on LinkedIn that she took part in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

Upon graduating from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr. Lilly Owusu Frimpong was named the Overall Best Female Medical Student.

During the commencement ceremony, she took home two additional honors in addition to being named UCC’s Overall Best Female Medical Student.

She also won the awards for Best in Internal Medicine & Therapeutics and Best in Microbiology during the commencement ceremony. She graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree.

She made her family and herself proud by winning three prizes for her outstanding performance in her senior year.

Prior to her accomplishments at UCC, Dr. Frimpong had also achieved academic success at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, her alma mater.

She disclosed that she took the Aburi Girls’ Senior High School National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), and she was awarded Best Student in Elective Mathematics for the academic year 2012–2013.

The event highlighted the accomplishments of the young doctor who is passionate about the health of others.

She was employed as a House Officer at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital from May 2022 to May 2023.

”I was the first in the hierarchy of doctors to see patients when they first presented to my facility. Clerked patients, made diagnoses, requested a series of test investigations and imaging when appropriate and started treatment. I worked in the internal medicine, obstetrics, and gynaecology departments,” says Dr Frimpong on LinkedIn.

At the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr. Frimpong assumed a new position as Senior House Officer and worked in the pediatric department.

She reveals that she gained insight into managing cases at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), the Pediatric emergency unit, and the outpatient department
