LASU First-Class Student With 4.78 CGPA Reveals Why He Sleeps Inside a Shop, Sparks Emotional Reactions Online

A LASU first-class student, Victor, with a 4.78 CGPA went viral after revealing that he sleeps in a shop with his family due to financial hardship while still excelling academically and tutoring others to survive.

A first-class undergraduate of Lagos State University (LASU) has touched the hearts of many Nigerians after opening up about the harsh living conditions he endures while excelling academically.

The student, identified as Victor, revealed in a viral video that he currently sleeps inside a shop alongside his mother and siblings due to financial hardship. Despite these challenges, Victor has maintained an outstanding CGPA of 4.78, earning him first-class honours.

In the emotional clip shared on TikTok, Victor introduced himself as a LASU student before explaining the reality of his living situation. He disclosed that his family does not own a house and often relies on the shop space as their shelter.

His mother also appeared in the video, shedding light on the family’s struggles. She explained that she survives by working as a tailor and selling sachet water and soft drinks to make ends meet. According to her, Victor’s father works as a gateman at a school and earns a monthly salary of ₦30,000, which barely sustains the household.

Speaking about his personal journey, Victor admitted that life has been emotionally draining. He said there were times he had to sleep in different places, including churches, whenever the shop space was unavailable. Still, he refused to let his circumstances define his future.

“I saw the condition of my home and knew I had to change things,” Victor said. “My mum, my siblings, and I sleep in a shop. We don’t have a house of our own. Sometimes, I cry all night, but I decided to focus on my studies because education is my way out.”

Victor further shared that he earns small income by tutoring other students, often teaching from morning till evening without revealing his personal struggles to anyone. Despite the exhaustion, he remained committed to helping others understand their courses while holding on to hope for a better tomorrow.

His story sparked an outpouring of admiration online, with many Nigerians praising his resilience, discipline, and selflessness. Several commenters, including his coursemates, described him as brilliant, kind, and dedicated, noting that he consistently tutored others despite his own difficulties.

Many social media users also called on organisations and employers to support Victor, stressing that his determination and academic excellence deserve recognition and opportunity.

Victor’s journey stands as a powerful reminder that resilience, focus, and hard work can shine through even the most difficult circumstances.
