A man named Sherman Merricks has celebrated his victory over debt on social media because he finally settled the debt he owed.

The man who has been in debt of 75million since the age of 18 paid it off within 2 years, according to the man, he planned to pay N123k from time to time until the day of his death until God spoke to him

Despite all difficulties, the man has now been declared debt-free after paying off all his debts (including debts related to his education).

Sherman Merricks shared a photo of his family on LinkedIn, and he said that he has been struggling with debts of $203,000 (83 million Dutch guilders) for many years.

His school (undergraduate and graduate studies combined) debt amounted to $185k (N75 million).

In his words:

In his words: “I had stupidly decided I was going to pay “them” $300 until the day I died.”

“…Then, one day God spoke to my heart and said be a man of your word and pay it back ASAP! Don’t owe anyone a dime. Now, I was like this is going to take forever but I was willing to do whatever it took. We paid off a couple of small things immediately to get the ball rolling so that we could get some small wins and gain confidence.”
