According to him, although he works at the Njiru Police Post, he feels that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) needs his knowledge, abilities, and experience.

In an interview, Mulei recounted his tale of endurance, resilience, and willingness to serve.

To begin with, he was intelligent and studied economics in school, but he was unable to get work in the workforce. In his words:

“I only did an internship at Makueni County Assembly after graduation. After that, I made uncountable job application all over the country and attended several interviews but none came through,”

The young Mulei decided to make a living by going into the boda boda ( bike riding) industry while he waited for things to open up.

Tried for seven years to be a police recruit.

As his prospects of getting into the industry began to fade, the 28-year-old realized he had to focus on something else.

At that point, he decided to give the police force a shot. He went to multiple recruitment events before one of them eventually worked out.

According to him: “I tried since 2015, and each year, I would travel from Eldoret to Moi and then to Makueni whenever there was a recruitment drive, but all those were in vain.”

His journey of relentless attempts finally paid off on March 24, 2022, as he successfully qualified just when he was on the verge of giving up.

During his police training at Kiganjo, he was the best student, he also excelled as a “sticky man” and was given the opportunity to select his posting site, his dedication to service was evident.

“I was given a red lanyard for being the best in drills, academics, and discipline in my squad,” Mulei concluded with pride.

The hardworking cop admits that he thought getting his degree would help him advance in the police force more quickly, but that hasn’t happened.

Mulei is now focused on gaining a position in the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), where he feels his skills and experience will be extremely useful.

The Day Mulei became well-known.

He remembered the day his picture went viral, saying he didn’t know the event would make him famous, as he was just holding the child out of fatherly instinct.

Mulei said that when the candidate appeared sad on the morning of the last exam, he realized she had a problem.

When he inquired whether the candidate who had come with her child wanted to enter the hall with the baby, she told him that she had no choice since the exam was about to start.

“I requested her to feel free and leave me with the child and proceed to her exam without stress, and that was what she did,” he said.

Netizens congratulated the Njiru Police Post officer for going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the student took her exams.
