Application for MEXT Scholarship 2019-2020 (Research Students, Undergraduate Students and Specialized Training College Students) now open.


The Embassy of Japan in Nigeria is organizing MEXT scholarship programme for Nigerian students. Interested candidates can also visit the Embassy of Japan to pick up application forms.
Candidates invited for the MEXT Scholarship.
- Research Students: Post graduate students who wish to conduct research in Japan for PH.D/Master’s degrees and non-degree courses, or who are conducting research in an undergraduate department etc. Applicants generally must have been born on or after April 2, 1985 (under 35 years of age)
- Undergraduate Students: Students who wish to continue their studies in Japanese universities for undergraduate degrees. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1995 and April 1, 2003. (between 17 to 25 years of age).
- College of Technology Students: Students who wish to study in Japan as students at a college of technology, Mechanical/Electronic Engineering, etc. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1995 and April 1, 2003.(between 17 to 25 years of age).
- Specialized Training College Students: Students who wish to study in Japan as a student at a specialized training college, Technology, Business, Fashion, Culture, etc. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1994 and April 1, 2003 (between 17 to 25 years of age).

- Closing date for submission of application forms is 14th June 2019 (Friday). Application forms received after this date will not be processed.
- Application forms could be submitted either in person or by post to the following address:

Embassy working hours: (Mon – Thurs) 8:000am to 5:30pm, (Fri) 8:00am– 12:45pm
- The Embassy will give priority to applicants with Grade Point Average of 2:2 and above.
