A young Nigerian man, Obinna Gabriel has celebrated his “Mums’ as he graduates out of school.
The young man, Gabriel who also bagged the NYSC Honors Award said his mum has been his motivation.
Sharing his story on Twitter, Gabrial recalled when he used to get first position in school and his mum will buy him turkey despite not having money. According to him, Turkey did motivate him very well.
While revealing he is employed, he said he works very hard because he wants to change his mum’s life.
Read his story below:
” I write this with all of my heart.
“For 32 years now (since November 30, 1990, my mum came to Lagos), we have lived in one-room ‘face me I deck you’ in Orile Iganmu where my parents birthed all six of us.
“My mum hustle real hard to see us survive. My dad (of blessed memory) did his best, though late now. Poverty held us by our throats, I can’t forget one Chinedu whom we almost ruined with everyday garri and rice on credit (I hope I find him soon)
“I somehow was brilliant in school , I was always taking first position in primary and my mum would always buy turkey for me every night of the day we collect report card.
“Bruhhh that turkey dey ginger me to serious. She was always proud to attend ‘End of the Year Party’ because her son must collect prize.
“If you see me working hard and putting energy in my endeavors, my mum is my motivation, I need to change her life.
“I do everything possible to make her proud each time. When I won the State Honours Award in Kwara State (NYSC), she burst into tears amidst the crowd.
“Things were quite difficult growing up until another woman came into my life. This woman accepted me into their house. She is the one who sent me through University. That I am a graduate today, did NYSC, and now employed, all happened because of her. She calls me her son.
“She’s my second mum. Most of the virtues and principles I exhibit today, she taught me.
“Tomorrow is her birthday and I really want to gift her. She’s the type who isn’t about the size of the gift but the thoughtfulness in the kind of gift. Please your suggestions will help 🙏🏾 .”
