Ogun Polytechnic Expels 365 Students Over Fake Admission Documents

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, expelled 365 HND students after investigations revealed they gained admission using forged ND results and fake academic transcripts.

The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta has expelled 365 students after discovering that they gained admission using forged academic credentials.

According to the institution’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Yemi Ajibola, the affected students were enrolled in various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes across different schools within the polytechnic. An investigation revealed that many of them submitted fake National Diploma (ND) results and falsified academic transcripts from other institutions to secure admission.

The discovery was made during a thorough verification of documents submitted by students during the admission and registration process. The institution said the exercise was aimed at protecting the integrity of its academic system and ensuring that only qualified candidates are admitted.

MAPOLY emphasized that it maintains a strict stance against fraud, forgery, and all forms of academic misconduct. The school stated that the expulsions demonstrate its commitment to enforcing academic standards and promoting credibility in higher education.

A breakdown of the affected students shows that 156 were from the School of Communication and Information Technology, 117 from the School of Business and Management Studies, 54 from the School of Science and Technology, 36 from the School of Engineering, and two from the School of Environmental Studies.

The Rector, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against using fake credentials to gain admission, stressing that the institution remains committed to academic excellence, professionalism, transparency, and integrity in its admission processes.
