The Ondo State Government has disbursed N335 million in bursaries and scholarships to support over 11,000 students, reflecting a strong commitment to improving education and easing financial burdens on families.


The Ondo State Government has recently disbursed N335 million in bursaries, scholarships, and financial aid to support 11,220 students from the state.
The announcement was made during a distribution ceremony in Akure, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria. This financial assistance is part of the state government’s larger initiative to improve educational access and ease the financial burdens faced by students and their families.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emphasized his administration’s dedication to enhancing education quality in Ondo State. He stated, “This award is not merely financial assistance but a statement of confidence in the students’ potential.”
Aiyedatiwa outlined several government initiatives, including paying for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for public secondary school students and renovating educational facilities. He also acknowledged the crucial role of parents and guardians in supporting their children’s education and called for continued support from the academic community to foster a conducive learning environment. “Our goal is to provide the best opportunities for our young people to develop into future leaders and change-makers,” he said.
Commissioner for Education, Mr. Olaolu Akindolire, expressed the government’s commitment to supporting students, stating, “The achievements of our students have been a source of pride for the state.” He thanked the Governor for his consistent dedication to student welfare, emphasizing that education is crucial for a brighter future for Ondo State.
The Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Ademola Kolawole, also underscored the importance of investing in education, stating, “This investment will yield significant benefits for both Ondo State and the nation.”
The President of the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS), Mr. Oyelade Ahmed, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s prioritization of education. He noted that the financial aid would significantly ease the burden on many families and voiced confidence in the Governor’s leadership. This initiative represents a substantial boost for students and underscores the state government’s ongoing commitment to supporting and investing in the educational sector.
