Prof Celestine Onwuliri Scholarship for Mbaise Undergraduate 2019

Professor Celestine Onwuliri Memorial Scholarship for Mbaise Undergraduates 2019 is now available.

Are you a year one student in any tertiary institution in Nigeria and an indigene of Imo state and from any of the Mbaise LGA’s to be precise? Then Allschool, is pleased to inform you that the Professor Celestine Onwuliri Memorial Scholarship for Mbaise Undergraduates 2019 Application Forms is now available.

Purpose of the Scholarship.

The International Liaison of Mbaise Indigenes (ILMI) – Diaspora based instituted these Annual Scholarships in memory of Professor Celestine Onwuliri who died in the Dana plane crash of Sunday, June 3rd 2012. The scholarships shall be named The Professor Celestine Onwuliri Memorial Scholarships.

Professor Onwuliri was an illustrious son of Mbaise who contributed immensely to the raising of the profile of Mbaise and its citizens during his lifetime, especially in the academic area.

The scholarships would provide financial support to prospective students of Mbaise origin who plan to attend a two-year College of Technology or a four-year University education in Nigeria.

Students Eligible for the Scholarship.

The scholarship is limited to only Mbaise sons and daughters who are currently in their year one at any of the Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.

How to Obtain the Scholarship Form

The Scholarship Application is comprised of a Fact Sheet, followed by exam questions that you must answer to the best of your abilities. The application forms must be signed by a parent or guardian and must be accompanied by the following:

i) a recent camera-ready black and white photo,

ii) two reference letters from (1) a former teacher and (2) a principal, or a Clergy, Traditional Ruler of your community, or Justice of the Peace, or Medical Practitioner, or Senior Public Servant, and

iii) N500.00 application fee.

The application forms will be obtained, completed and returned at the venue of the scholarship examination to ILMI Representatives.

Date of examination: Saturday, May 18, 2019.
Venue: Enyiogugu Secondary School, along Owerri/Umuahia Road, Aboh Mbaise
Time: 7:30 am – 11:30 am

Scholarship Interviews.

All the applications will be verified and vetted for completion and ultimately reduced to four from each local government area. The Scholarship Committee will interview the twelve so selected for a scholarship. The six recipients will be selected from the twelve finalists. The date, nature and manner 
of the interview will be communicated to the finalists. If chosen, you will be notified of the location and time of the interview.

Scholarship Value.

ILMI plans to award six scholarships annually (two for each of the three Local Government Areas that constitute the Mbaise nation). The amount for the scholarship is Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600, 000.00) per year; meaning each of the six awardees will receive One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100, 000.00). The scholarship recipients will be selected out of the applications received and interviews  conducted.

Please know that we have a very difficult job selecting the scholarship recipients, as we will receive many applications from qualified students. If you are not selected, do not be discouraged. Continue your pursuit of education. We look forward to receiving your application and learning more about you during the process. The ILMI reserves the right to not entertain any legal challenges, or be compelled to alter the number of annual awards.

Notice to Professor Celestine Onwuliri Memorial Scholarship Applicants

  1. The prospective students must submit letter of admission and UME test scores, and sign the Scholarship Agreement Form before the awards can be paid.
  2. The College of Technology or University must be accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) or the National University Commission (NUC).
  3. The awards will be made to the successful candidates during the 7th memorial ceremony of Professor Celestine Onwuliri in June 2019.
  4. All Applicants must send text messages of email the coordinators 24 hours before the exam date to get sit reserved.
