In a timed challenge of 40 minutes, the six contestants were tasked with designing a robot to address a societal issue. The judges evaluated the projects based on problem identification and the effectiveness of the solution proposed.

Sanyaolu’s project focused on the effects of bullying among secondary school students, a topic she chose due to the increasing instances of bullying in schools. She highlighted the psychological impacts of bullying, including loss of concentration and fear, and encouraged victims to speak out for support and justice.

The competition’s top prize was awarded to Ugbaji Testimony from Honeyland School, Baruwa Campus, who received a cheque for N200,000. Sanyaolu, the first runner-up, won a bedside fridge, while the second runner-up, Stephanie Humphrey from Viscum College, received a rechargeable fan.

ITGEN Robotics training programs aim to ignite students’ interest in technology and engineering, offering a curriculum that spans basic mechanics to advanced programming. ITGEN also hosts various national competitions to foster creativity and skill-building across different educational levels.

At the prize presentation on Monday, Mrs. Sarah Oyinloye, Principal of Starfield College (senior school), congratulated Sanyaolu for her outstanding achievement and encouraged other students to strive for excellence. She praised Sanyaolu’s dedication, noting her late-night efforts and continuous engagement with her Robotics teacher.

Mrs. Oyinloye emphasized that every student has a unique talent that, when nurtured, can lead to great accomplishments.
