Cursory: Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State confirmed the safe return of 137 kidnapped pupils from Government Secondary and Primary Schools, Kuriga 1, Chikun LGA. Regrettably, one teacher did not survive due to health complications, as reported by the military. Despite this loss, the rescued schoolchildren have returned to Kaduna and are in good spirits, according to Governor Sani.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State revealed that among the 137 pupils of Government Secondary and Primary Schools, Kuriga 1, Chikun LGA, who were kidnapped, one teacher did not survive.
The state government and the Defence Headquarters had earlier announced the release of the abducted schoolchildren, who were rescued in Zamfara State on March 7, 2024.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday’s Politics programme, Governor Sani stated that the rescued schoolchildren had returned to Kaduna and were in good spirits.
However, he sadly noted that one teacher did not make it back due to health complications. According to the governor, the military reported that the teacher was unwell, but all 137 children have safely returned home.
“Sadly one person has not returned and that is the teacher. That is the fact of the matter but all the 137 children are safely back.
“We had an unfortunate incident that a teacher couldn’t make it. He had some complications, he was sick. That was the report we got from the military but the rest of the children, all of them are back home safely, they are with us.”
