Cursory: The TRCN inducted 376 LASU graduates into teaching. See details below…

On Tuesday, the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria officially welcomed 376 graduates from Lagos State University, Ojo, into the teaching profession. Professor Solomon Makinde, the Dean of the Faculty of Education at LASU, made this announcement during the induction ceremony held in Lagos.
He emphasized the institution’s commitment to delivering a comprehensive curriculum, ensuring students gain essential digital skills, and facilitating well-structured teaching practice sessions. Makinde highlighted LASU’s dedication to addressing the existing challenges within the teaching profession in Africa’s fifth-largest economy.
He said, “To further drive this objective, the faculty will seek the approval of the university to set in motion an Executive Pedagogy Programme for all non-registered lecturers.
The purpose is to sharpen their skills, leading to the professionalisation and registration with the TRCN.“Professionalism of teaching is a necessity to improve on the current standards of the building blocks of our nation.”
Makinde highlighted that the aim of restoring, enhancing, and preserving the esteemed quality and reputation of teachers and education led to the creation of the TRCN Decree 31 of 1993, currently known as TRCN CAP T3 of 2004.
The TRCN, under the jurisdiction of the Federal Ministry of Education, was established by the TRCN Decree No. 31 of 1993, now recognized as the TRCN Act CAP T3 of 2004. Its primary responsibility is to oversee and regulate the teaching profession across all levels of the Nigerian educational system, encompassing both public and private sectors.
