Some Bayero Varsity Kano (BUK) students has reportedly disclosed that thieves broke into their hostel and stole 17 Phones.
One of the affected students, who asked his name not to be disclosed, said that they found out their phones were stolen when some of them woke up around 3 am during night reading.
She said, their hostel was a clinic before, had dilapidated burglary proofs and damaged glasses, noting that the situation had always been of concern to them.

She also added that they have locked their door before going to sleep and find it later opened.
Is After they noticed that they have been robbed, they notify the security officials stationed around the hostel, but they were told to go to the security division to compile an official complaint.
Another victim, who also asked not to be named, said they were shocked to find out that no effort was made on the part of the security to arrest the thieves immediately the matter was reported, adding that instead, the school security had been blaming the victims by insisting that it was an insider job despite evidence to the contrary.
She said that ” Many of the phones are very expensive, some include the latest iPhones and other smartphones, but our most pressing fear is that if a thief or thieves can operate successfully, who say a sexual predator can also not succeed? This is why we are apprehensive.”
It was further gathered that when calls were placed to some of the stolen phones, a male answered the calls but abruptly ended them.
Lamara Garba, which he’s meant to be the university spokesman promised the victim the recovery of their phones.

However, a source in the school management familiar with the development, said the school’s security said it was about 12 phones stolen and considered it as an insider crime among the female students because there was no evidence of forceful entrance.
In the end, the matter is under investigation and the solution will soon be reached.
