The Kaduna State Government, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency Senator Dr. Uba Sani, has approved the sponsorship of about 5,000 public school candidates for the Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE), covering both NECO and WAEC.

This timely intervention reflects His Excellency’s unwavering commitment to educational access, equity, and excellence, while also addressing the current economic pressures faced by parents and guardians across the state. It forms a critical part of the government’s broader education reform agenda and builds on its promise of inclusive and quality education for all.
The screening and selection of qualified candidates will be based primarily on their performance in the 2024 SSII Mock Examinations conducted by KSSQAA, which provided a reliable measure of student preparedness. Additional selection criteria will ensure that only deserving and promising candidates benefit from the opportunity.
Speaking on the development, the Director-General of the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA), Professor Usman Abubakar Zaria, stated that the approval reflects the Governor’s deep empathy for families battling economic hardship, and his enduring resolve to ensure that no child is left behind in the pursuit of academic success.
“This decision by His Excellency is both timely and strategic,” Professor Abubakar-Zaria said. “It is not just about paying examination fees it is about reassuring hope, reducing dropout rates, curbing social vices, and enhancing academic performance. Most importantly, it underscores the Governor’s resolve to democratize access to education and promote human capital development across Kaduna State.”
Professor Abubakar Zaria further noted that this support builds upon previous government interventions. In 2024 alone, 136,742 candidates were sponsored for internal examinations such as the JSCE and SSII Mocks, and in 2025, the Governor is sponsoring 175,752 public school candidates, including orphans and Hybrid CBT candidates, for key examinations.
This development marks yet another milestone in Kaduna State’s educational renaissance. It is a bold reminder that under the stewardship of Governor Uba Sani, education is not a privilege – it is a right. Let us join hands to support this noble vision. Let every school, teacher, and parent work together to ensure that these young minds shine brightly not just in their exams, but in shaping the future of Kaduna State.
Professor Usman ABUBAKAR-ZARIA
