Cursory: A teacher added a humorous remark on the answer sheet of a student who did poorly on his test. The student failed the test with a score of 18%, which infuriated the teacher and caused him to use his red pen. The teacher imitated the slang term for extreme disapproval known as “bombastic side eye” by writing “academic side eye” on the script.

A teacher’s humorous reprimand of a student’s poor 18% test score has become a TikTok sensation. In the video shared by @morena_ngoepe, the teacher jokingly used a red pen to express his disappointment with the student’s performance.
Along with funny remarks like “academic side eye,” which is a play on the phrase “bombastic side eye,” the teacher even made a joke about requiring a break from teaching as a result of the student’s subpar performance.
Some members of the TikTok community think that academic standards are declining, while others sympathize with the student.
