Dr. Olugbemisola Odusote has been appointed as the first female Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, effective January 10, 2026, for a four-year term, succeeding Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma.


President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Olugbemisola Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, making her the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962. The appointment takes effect from January 10, 2026, for a four-year term.
Dr. Odusote, 54, is currently the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School. She will succeed Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose tenure expires on January 9, 2026, after eight years of service. As Director-General, Odusote will be responsible for the institution’s overall academic leadership, administrative management, and strategic direction across all campuses.
Odusote obtained her LL.B. degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She holds an LL.M from the same university, specializing in company and commercial law, and a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, UK, with research interests in Public Law and the administration of justice.
With over two decades of experience at the Nigerian Law School, Odusote has served in various capacities, including head of the academic department, director of academics, and head of campus. She has also been a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University, UK.
Odusote’s appointment marks a significant milestone for the institution and the legal profession in Nigeria. Her leadership is expected to shape the future of legal education in the country.
