Cursory: Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State offered automatic employment in public service to Yusuf Aminat, a First Class Law graduate from LASU with a remarkable 5.0 CGPA.

On Monday, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State extended an offer of automatic employment in the state’s public service to Miss Yusuf Aminat, a First Class Law graduate from Lagos State University (LASU).
Yusuf achieved an exceptional 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in LASU’s Law Degree Programme, making her the top-performing graduate in the university’s history.
The announcement of Governor Obaseki’s offer was made by the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, who emphasized that the gesture went beyond mere congratulations.
“Beyond merely congratulating her, we have offered automatic employment to her. Indeed, we have reached out to her parents and spoken with them. They have accepted our offer of employment.”
The deputy governor of the state, Comrade Philip Shaibu, had earlier hosted Yusuf and her parents in his office, where he described her as a role model to young Nigerians who had demonstrated their desire to take back Nigeria into their hands.
“You have given hope to that child that thinks all is lost. Nigeria is in dire need of role models, role models are lacking in our system, and the last elections showed that the young people are ready to take their destiny into their hands, people like you will have to play a role to motivate them.” Shaibu noted.
Obadan Abudu, a lecturer at Lagos State University (LASU), represented Professor Kareem Olatoye, the Dean of the Law Faculty, who commented on Yusuf Aminat’s remarkable work ethic and her frequent presence in the library.
The automatic employment is coming barely a few days after the brilliant lady was awarded Ten Million Nigerian Naira (N10,000,000) for her exceptional academic performance.
Yusuf’s father, Ibrahim Yusuf, acknowledged the state government’s offer and expressed gratitude.
