The University of Benin has appointed Dr. Victor Nnam, a former Enugu State Commissioner, as an Associate Professor in recognition of his contributions to academia and public service.

The University of Benin has appointed Dr. Victor Nnam, a former Enugu State Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, as an Associate Professor.
This announcement was made in a letter signed by Mrs. T. M. Omage-Umeh, the university’s Deputy Registrar, on Tuesday.
Dr. Nnam was recognized for his significant contributions to both academia and public service. After serving as commissioner, he dedicated himself to teaching and mentoring students at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, often offering his services without charge.
In response to the appointment, Dr. Nnam expressed his appreciation to UNIBEN for the honor, saying, “I am deeply honored by this appointment and grateful for the opportunity to contribute my expertise to UNIBEN. Education is my passion, and I look forward to inspiring the next generation of geo-informatics professionals.”
He emphasized his commitment to advancing the field of geo-informatics and promoting collaboration between academia and the public sector. Dr. Nnam also noted his intention to bring his governance experience into the classroom, enhancing the curriculum and providing students with practical knowledge of geo-informatics in urban planning and development.
His appointment is expected to strengthen the Department of Geo-informatics and provide students with a richer learning experience.
