UNILAG Convocation: Bodex Hungbo Bags 2nd Degree, “Education Is Key to Credible Influence”

Florence “Bodex” Hungbo, Nigerian media entrepreneur and Bodex Group chairperson, graduated from UNILAG with a second degree in Mass Communication, stressing that formal education is essential for credible influence and responsible media practice in the digital age.

Florence Hungbo, a Nigerian media entrepreneur, has graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a second degree in Mass Communication. Hungbo, chairperson of Bodex Group International, was among thousands of graduands at the institution’s 56th Convocation Ceremony held at the Akoka campus.

Her achievement comes years after her first degree in Industrial Chemistry, reflecting an intentional alignment between education and professional practice. Hungbo emphasized the importance of education in combating misinformation and enhancing credibility in the digital media landscape.

“I wanted my education to match my practice,” she said. “I love media, but I didn’t study media in school.” She explained that formal education in Mass Communication was necessary to strengthen credibility and deepen her understanding of the media landscape.

Balancing academic responsibilities with managing multiple businesses proved challenging, but Hungbo’s discipline and passion kept her focused. She believes education builds patience, focus, and effective human management skills.

As a prominent voice in Nigeria’s digital media ecosystem, Hungbo emphasized that education is critical in combating misinformation and ensuring responsible influence. “You can’t just speak without knowledge,” she noted.

Hungbo has already begun applying her academic experience to social impact initiatives, engaging over 1,200 students on social media for social good and personal development. She plans a nationwide digital media school tour to equip students with practical skills.

For professionals considering further education, Hungbo’s message is clear: “It’s not too late. If education will help your journey, go for it.”
