A Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board candidate went viral after scoring 283 in the 2026 UTME despite initially fearing her result, while also sympathizing with her friend who scored lower despite more preparation, amid ongoing nationwide exams and unrelated security concerns in Benue State.
A young woman who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has gone viral after sharing her impressive result online.
The candidate, known as @only_rechael on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that she was initially too anxious to check her score after the exam. However, when she eventually did, she was surprised by her performance.
According to the result she posted, she scored 75 in Physics, 51 in English, and an outstanding 97 in Chemistry, giving her a total aggregate of 283. Despite the strong performance, she expressed mixed feelings, especially after comparing her result with that of a friend who studied more intensively but scored 203. She sympathized with her friend, noting that the outcome felt unfair.
The 2026 UTME began on April 16 and is scheduled to end on April 25, with over 2.2 million candidates taking part in the nationwide examination across accredited CBT centres.
In a separate development, there were reports of an attack along the Makurdi–Otukpo road in Benue State, where 14 passengers were abducted from a commercial bus. The victims were initially believed to be UTME candidates, but authorities later clarified that they were actually individuals involved in an ongoing police recruitment exercise. Security agencies have since begun efforts to rescue them, while the bus driver was taken into custody for violating travel regulations.
