WAEC has apologized for a technical glitch that caused errors in the 2025 WASSCE results and is urging students to recheck their results after the issue is resolved.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued an apology to students and the general public following a technical malfunction that affected the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
In a statement released Wednesday, WAEC acknowledged that a system error led to some candidates receiving incomplete or inaccurate results after they were initially made available online.
The glitch, which reportedly persisted for several hours, was quickly addressed by WAEC’s IT department. However, in the interim, numerous students took to social media to report discrepancies — such as missing subjects or unexpected scores.
WAEC has clarified that no results were lost, tampered with, or intentionally withheld, and the integrity of the examination process remains intact.
Affected students are now being advised to revisit the WAEC portal and recheck their 2025 results to ensure accuracy.

REVIEW OF WASSCE 2025 RESULTS FOR SCHOOL CANDIDATES
“The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) wishes to inform the public of a technical issue identified during an internal review of the 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates.
As part of efforts to combat exam malpractice, the Council introduced a new measure called paper serialization, applied to subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. While this aligns with global assessment standards, the serialization caused some unexpected technical issues post-release.
We deeply regret any confusion or inconvenience caused. In response, we have temporarily disabled access to the result-checking portal to allow for corrections.
We sincerely apologize to all affected candidates and their families. WAEC is working diligently to resolve the issue, and we expect full access to be restored within 24 hours. Students who have previously checked their results are encouraged to do so again afterward.
WAEC remains committed to fairness, accuracy, and transparency in all its examinations. We thank the public for their continued trust and understanding.”
