Alanah Poullard, a 16-year-old African American girl from Jennings, has achieved a remarkable feat by earning $1 million worth of scholarships to 60 universities across the United States.
Currently a second-year student at Midland High School, Alanah’s dedication and academic prowess have propelled her towards a bright future in the medical field.

Despite being two years ahead of her peers, Alanah has maintained an impressive 3.80 grade point average, demonstrating her commitment to excellence.
Her journey to success began early, as she started applying to colleges during her freshman year of high school, eventually receiving an overwhelming response from prestigious institutions.
Reflecting on her achievement, Alanah expressed gratitude and disbelief at the magnitude of her accomplishments.
She credited her hard work and determination for her success, emphasizing that she has earned her place among the top scholars in the country.
Alanah’s journey to academic excellence has been marked by notable milestones. At the age of 5, she garnered national attention when she requested a note from former President Barack Obama to excuse her absence from school to attend a Wounded Warriors program at the White House.
Additionally, at just 14 years old, she participated in a summer medical internship at the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine, where she gained hands-on experience in performing medical procedures.
Tragically, Alanah’s father, Rev. Dr. Stacy Poullard, passed away, but his unwavering support and encouragement continue to inspire her pursuit of becoming a doctor.
Alanah’s mother, Yolanda, a retired United States Army major, echoes her late husband’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of humility, faith, and compassion in achieving success.
