The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has given the federal government a 72-hour ultimatum to address the crisis at FUOYE, demanding the removal of the Vice-Chancellor and other actions over allegations of sexual harassment and financial mismanagement, or face nationwide student protests.

The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has threatened to shut down the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) if the federal government fails to act swiftly on the ongoing crisis at the institution.
NAUS, in a strongly worded letter signed by its national president, Comrade Peter Oche, demanded the removal of FUOYE Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, within 72 hours. The association cited allegations of sexual harassment and financial mismanagement leveled against the VC by Engr. Folashade Adebayo and other senior university staff.
The letter, addressed to Minister of Education Dr. Olatunji Alausa and circulated to the press in Abuja, indicates that NAUS is mobilizing students across the country for potential protests and disruptions if their demands are not met.
NAUS expressed its full support for an earlier petition by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), which also called for Fasina’s immediate removal. NANS had accused FUOYE’s Governing Council, led by Senator Victor Udo Udoma (SAN), of mishandling the sexual harassment investigation and violating due process by suspending key members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU).
The demands outlined by NAUS include:
- Immediate removal of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Fasina.
- Suspension of Governing Council Chairman, Senator Udoma, pending investigation.
- Formation of an independent panel comprising students, legal experts, and external stakeholders to re-examine sexual harassment claims, especially involving Dr. Agbegbedia.
- A comprehensive audit of FUOYE’s financial records under Prof. Fasina’s tenure.
- Protection for whistleblowers, including SSANU leaders and Dr. Ngozi Ole.
- Public acknowledgment of institutional failures and a clear roadmap to restore integrity and justice at the university.
NAUS vowed not to relent until justice is served and the students’ voices are acknowledged.
