Tragic Car Crash Claims Lives of Gateway Polytechnic Students During N30K Race

Two Gateway Polytechnic students and two bystanders lost their lives in Ogun State after a high-speed car race over a ₦30,000 bet ended in a fatal crash into a roadside shop.

A devastating incident occurred in Ogun State involving students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapade (GAPOSA), as a car race over a ₦30,000 wager ended in a fatal crash, killing four individuals.

Eyewitnesses reported that two students engaged in a high-speed race, each vying to win the cash prize. The race turned tragic when both drivers lost control of their vehicles and rammed into a roadside shop near a local garage.

One person from each car died on the spot, while a third victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, two more people who were inside the shop at the time of the crash also lost their lives. The crash caused extensive property damage as well.

Shocking videos shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @Letter_to_Jack showed bystanders desperately trying to overturn one of the cars to recover bodies pinned beneath.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians demanding urgent action against illegal street racing and reckless driving among youth.

As of now, there has been no official response from either the police or school authorities.
