Taking to LinkedIn to celebrate her accomplishments, Amanda shared that she is a first-generation college student. She mentioned that her parents immigrated to the United States from Jamaica and Grenada when they were teenagers.

“I have received TWO bachelors degrees, a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University, with a minor in African American & African Studies, Magna Cum Lade,” Amanda proudly announced on LinkedIn.

She expressed her gratitude to the Morril Scholarship Program, which provided full funding for her studies at the university. Amanda credited the program for believing in her essay, which she wrote when she was just 17 years old.

Amanda also thanked her parents for their sacrifices, stating that she cannot repay them for all they have done, but she hopes her achievement is a start.

After graduation, Amanda plans to begin a full-time position as a Human Resource Analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York City. Her journey serves as an inspiration to many, showcasing the power of hard work, determination, and the support of scholarships and family.
