A determined Nigerian man, Toheeb Bisiriyu, has finally earned his university degree after a decade-long struggle.

Toheeb graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Administration from the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Nigeria, achieving second-class upper honors.
In an interview with Legit, Toheeb shared that it took him 10 years after earning a diploma to finally secure admission to the university. He started his academic journey at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, Nigeria, where he obtained a National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology.
As the firstborn in a polygamous family with 11 siblings, Toheeb was determined to obtain a university degree. He wrote the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB) five times, failing repeatedly but never giving up.
“My first UTME was in 2012 when I applied to study Science Laboratory Technology at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. I gained admission in 2013 and completed my ND program in 2015,” Toheeb recalled.
Despite his parents’ initial reluctance due to financial constraints, Toheeb worked for three years to save for his tuition, extending his journey to a university education to 10 years. Although he initially aimed to study Medical Laboratory Science at the University of Lagos, he faced difficulties securing admission and eventually shifted his focus to agriculture, a field he was also passionate about.
In 2015, he gained admission to Kwara State University for his dream course but had to forfeit it due to financial difficulties. He later secured a place at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta.
Driven by a strong desire to succeed and set an example for his siblings, Toheeb excelled academically, socially, politically, and religiously during his six years at the university. He now plans to further his studies by pursuing a master’s degree.
