The Vice-Chancellor, along with the University Governing Council and Management team, visited Chef Adeparusi to show support and encourage her resilient spirit. Prof. Fasina expressed pride in her achievements and handed her a cash gift of N200,000 as the university’s support.
The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Fasina has visited Chef Damilola Adeparusi, a student of the institution who is attempting to become the world record holder for the longest cooking marathon.
Chef Dammy, who surpassed Hilda Baci’s previous record of a 100-hour Cook-a-thon on June 9, 2023, commenced her own 120-hour cook-a-thon. Her popularity soared after a video circulated, allegedly capturing her completing 15 hours of the scheduled 120-hour cooking marathon.

While some netizens have criticised her for attempting to break Hilda’s record, some have showered praise on her for believing in herself.
Fasina is among many individuals or groups who have shown her support.Fasina visited the student chef with members of the University Governing Council and the Management team in Ilupeju-Ekiti to further encourage her on her resilient spirit to achieve greatness with her skill.
The vice chancellor and his entourage arrived at the venue of the marathon cooking at 12:30 pm with cheers by a crowd of excited students who received him.
The students in attendance were filled with joy upon seeing their Vice-Chancellor and enthusiastically praised him for his support of Chef Damilola. Speaking to both Chef Adeparusi and the students, Prof. Fasina expressed his delight at the accomplishments Chef Adeparusi has attained through her culinary skills.
“We are very glad with your resilient spirit in achieving greatness by showcasing your skills and talents as a Chef.
“You have made us really proud globally by showing to the world that we have students who have been well tutored and inspired to take up the gauntlet and achieve greatness with their God-given talents and skills.
“In FUOYE, we motivate to innovate, we encourage our students to pursue their dreams with sound and functional education which we painstakingly impact into our students and you are a shining example and testimony of the hard work of our dynamic lecturers.
“We are indeed very happy for you and we encourage you and others to continue to make us proud by bringing into practice the functional education and positive values you are receiving in FUOYE.“I am particularly delighted and moved by your clarification that you are not competing with Hilda Baci and that you merely wanted to showcase your talents to the world, this is very inspiring,“ he said.
Prof. Fasina personally presented Chef Adeparusi with a cash gift of N200,000 on behalf of the university management to support her endeavor. In response, Chef Adeparusi expressed her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and conveyed her overwhelming feelings of love and encouragement from the Governing Council and the management team. She pledged to continue bringing pride to the institution in all her future endeavors.
