Three students abducted along Birnin Gwari-Kaduna highway sometime in March have regained freedom.


The students were abducted on their way from Kaduna after they had written Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The teenagers were released alongside a toddler who was also abducted from the same vehicle.
A resident of Birnin Gwari who didn’t want to be mentioned told Daily Trust that the teenagers were released after a ransom was paid.
The victims Yusuf Sani, Ummi Sani, Umaira Mustapha and the toddler whose name was not made available were related to a former House of Representative member in the town.

” Yes they were released almost ten days ago after a ransom was paid but you know because of this coronavirus issue, I forgot to inform you of their freedom but they were all in good condition,” he said.
He said they were found at a place close to Buruku town along the highway.
Asked how much was paid as ransom for their freedom he said it ran into millions of naira for four of them.
He said the family have to embark on a serious prayers seeking God intervention for the bandits to accept the ransom.
Daily Trust reported how the victims were attacked on their way back to Birnin Gwari at a place called Unguwar Yako along Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Highway last month.
Their driver Ibrahim Dawo was killed on the spot by the bandits before the victims were taken into the forest.
