49 MAPOLY HND Final-Year Students Face Expulsion Over Fake ND Results

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) is set to expel 49 HND final-year students for allegedly using fake ND certificates, though they will have the opportunity to defend their credentials before final action is taken.

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) is set to expel 49 Higher National Diploma (HND) final-year students after a result verification process revealed their use of fake National Diploma (ND) certificates for admission into the HND programme.

According to reports, the polytechnic’s two-batch verification list identified students from various departments, including Mass Communication, Pharmaceutical Technology, Marketing, Science Laboratory Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Accountancy, as having submitted fraudulent results. Some of the fake certificates were allegedly obtained from institutions such as The Polytechnic, Ibadan, The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, and Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State.

The polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, explained that the verification process is part of the institution’s commitment to ensuring the authenticity of students’ credentials. Ajibola highlighted that delays in the release of results stemmed from the rigorous verification process, which uncovered the fraudulent submissions.

“We have internal mechanisms to verify results submitted by every student. Some results remain unverified because the issuing institutions are yet to confirm them, while others have been confirmed as fake,” Ajibola stated.

Despite the findings, the institution has assured that affected students will be given the chance to defend their results before any final disciplinary action is taken. This move underscores MAPOLY’s dedication to fairness while upholding academic integrity.
