Six exceptional Master’s graduates from the University of Ibadan, recognized for their outstanding academic performance, received full PhD scholarships during the 76th Convocation, where the Vice-Chancellor praised their achievements and emphasized their role in driving national development.


Six outstanding Master’s degree graduates from the University of Ibadan have been awarded full scholarships to pursue their PhDs in recognition of their exceptional academic performance, achieving cumulative grade point averages (CGPAs) above 7.00. The announcement was made during the university’s 76th Convocation, which celebrated the achievements of 2,868 Master’s graduates.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Kayode Adebowale praised the scholars’ dedication and emphasized the importance of using their expertise to drive national and societal progress. Among the honorees were Ayomide Adepoju Esther, Abiodun Oyeleye, and four others, who stood out for their exceptional accomplishments across various fields.
Speaking at the event, Professor Adebowale reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting excellence in postgraduate education and research. He highlighted the institution’s efforts in organizing interdisciplinary discussions with prominent figures from academia and industry, both locally and internationally, to advance education and national development.
He further acknowledged the significant contributions of the university’s staff and students to knowledge and innovation on national and global scales.
“Your achievements reflect your perseverance and dedication,” the Vice-Chancellor stated. “As graduates, you now have the responsibility to apply your knowledge and skills to revitalize Nigeria’s economy and society. Be exemplary ambassadors of this university, wherever your journey takes you, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth and development.”
