The management of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State, has introduced an incentive geared towards promoting competitive grades and academic excellence amongst its students.

According to the acting vice-chancellor of the university, professor Okechuku Onuchuku, students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 and above will now enjoy free internet access in the institution’s “internet garden” for their academic purposes only.
Professor Onuchuku who spoke at an orientation program on “University Web-Related Services” organized for students of the institution by the Information and Communications Technology Centre, on Wednesday, July 13 said the move is aimed at encouraging students with lower CGPA to work harder.
He admonished the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to improve their academic performances to remain on the list as anyone whose CGPA drops below the benchmark would lose access to the “internet garden”.
