Nigerians on social media have reacted angrily at the comments made by Bashir El’rufai, a son of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El’rufai, after he described the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU as a useless union.

According to his Twitter post, Bashir El’rufai said that ASUU should be dissolved and replaced with educators who care about students.
Bashir made the statement on Twitter, saying, “ASUU is a very useless union. They should be scrapped and replaced with educators that actually give a damn about students and how that translates to the future of this country.”
Recall ASUU who had commenced their industrial action on February 14, 2022, yesterday night declared the strike total and indefinite.
Reacting, Twitter users condemned the comments by Bashir, without sparing his father as well.
@Dabang234: “Point of correction: ASUU is not a very useless Union. They simple refused to endorse the elites desire to prevent the poor from having access to university education in order to remain subservient to them. Take it or leave it.”
@Apara_sa1: “He who wears the shoes, knows where it pinches. You don’t School in Nigeria, so you can never know the problem with Nigerian education. Don’t blame Asuu, blame Nigerian politicians that turned deaf ears to the yearnings of Asuu. And your father is also a politician.”
@kleftunes: “You call them useless cuz they don’t agree with the FG? Why is the FG not having money to put into education but senators salary are never delayed each month?Do you know most state universities in Nigeria don’t have more than 2 science laboratories?.”
@daniel_kazah: “Bashir or whatever you call yourself come and scrap the Union let’s see, even your father can’t even do that it’s a matter of months when you guys are gone Nigeria will be a better place.”
@FelixBaba8: “Well, we don’t blame you. Remember that those who made up the ASUU are professors and Doctors, people who have contributed immensely to the body of learning and Nation building. I attended a Federal higher institution and I know what the challenges are in our school systems are.”
@teewesthojo: “So ASUU are the useless right, you think if it money they want, they can trade their interest for Money like NLC did, an average Nigeria student understand their plight. Ask those who studies abroad to send you the facilities in there respective institution and do comparisim .”
“It high time we compel anyone who is to hold any political post in Nigeria to start enrolling their wards or children in public school across the country or loose their sit. If not we will continue to have prolonged ASUU strike, cos Govt don’t care since their not affected.”
