Cursory: The University of Ilorin has some great news for students and staff who have been struggling with transportation challenges.

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is set to introduce electric bus services and train services to make commuting a breeze.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdulwahab Egbewole SAN spoke to journalists during a Ramadan fast-breaking event in Ilorin and expressed his determination to resolve the transportation challenge.
“Aside from the effort which the institution is making on the railway transportation, we are also looking at electric bus transportation,” he said.
“The good thing about it is that this is homegrown as few of our colleagues in the Department of Electrical Engineering are already working on that model and because we just released the Senate research grant, we are hoping that part of the grant will be used to work on that model.”
The university is also injecting more buses into the transportation system to ease the current challenges.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism in making the institution the number one university in Nigeria, Africa, and one of the prominent key players in the world.
“Our academic calendar is progressing smoothly, continuous assessment of our students is ongoing, and we recently had our matriculation. Our university is set to improve on the feat as the most subscribed university by maintaining it for the fifth time in the next Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination,” he said.
The government of Kwara State is also concluding the ongoing Tanke Bridge project, which is expected to reduce transportation challenges further. With all these developments, the University of Ilorin is on track to becoming a leader in transportation and education.
