Two PAAU Students Arrested Over Death of Biochemistry Student

Two students of Prince Abubakar Audu University were arrested over the killing of a 300-level Biochemistry student, David Ocholi Solomon, as the university pledged full cooperation with security agencies to ensure justice is served.

Two students of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Ayingba, Kogi State, have been arrested in connection with the killing of David Ocholi Solomon, a 300-level Biochemistry undergraduate.

According to the university’s spokesperson, Uredo Omale, the suspects were apprehended by the institution’s internal security team less than two hours after the incident and were subsequently handed over to law enforcement authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo, disclosed this while paying a condolence visit to the deceased student’s family in Lokoja. He explained that he received news of the tragedy while attending the annual conference of the Nigerian Political Science Association at the University of Ibadan.

Describing the incident as painful and heartbreaking, the Vice-Chancellor said the entire university community had been thrown into mourning. He assured the family that the institution is working closely with security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and that everyone connected to the crime is identified and brought to justice.

Professor Ogbo reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism, violence, and other criminal activities. He added that security measures on and around campus have been strengthened, with additional reforms expected to prevent similar incidents in the future.

He also appreciated Governor Usman Ododo, traditional rulers, and security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace within the university community.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the deceased’s father, Mr. Solomon Idachaba, thanked the university management for the condolence visit and praised the swift arrest of the suspects. He urged authorities to ensure that justice is fully served in the case.
