A 100 level student of the University of Jos is reportedly missing after he went for a swim in Lamingo Dam during a hiking trip.


University of Jos student reported missing following a dive into Lamingo dam during a Faculty hiking trip
The 100 level student simply identified as Elvis was enrolled for his Bachelor Degree programme in Biology Education.
According to his course-mates, the deceased was part of the students who was on a hike organized by Biology Education Student Association (BESA) of the University of Jos on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
During the hike, the student and others reportedly plunged Into the dam for a swim and apparently that one student never came out.
Rescue operation by local divers has been going on since Saturday and through the weekend to remove his body from the water all proved abortive.
Some of the divers who went to retrieve the body explained that based on superstitious believes, the gods in the water are angry and libation must be provided for the body to be released.
