A remarkable 22-year-old woman identified as Joy Waston has been celebrated as the best graduating student at Virginia State University, USA, earn dual degree in Mathematics and Engineering.


A 22-year-old woman named Joy Watson has been recognized as the best-graduating student at Virginia State University, United States, after earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Engineering with exceptional grades.
Joy graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering Technology, along with a minor in dance. In addition to receiving the top graduate award, she was granted a full scholarship to pursue her master’s degree at the university.
Celebrating her achievement on LinkedIn, Joy shared her accomplishments during her time at the university. She served as the 94th Miss Virginia State University and was actively involved in various activities.
Joy participated in marching bands, student organizations, honor societies, fellowships, internships, and community service. She joined the National Society of Black Engineers during her freshman year, which expanded her academic network nationwide. Despite the pandemic, she continued her involvement virtually and eventually served as the organization’s president, revitalizing it from the ground up.
Joy also held the title of 2023 Miss National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame. She maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout her academic journey, despite her numerous activities.
Expressing gratitude to her sponsors, Joy encouraged them to continue their support through donations, company visits, resources, internships, scholarships, and community service.
Joy announced her plans to return to Virginia State University to complete a fully funded 12-month Master of Science program in Mathematics. Afterward, she intends to pursue a PhD in Mathematics with the goal of becoming a professor.
