JAMB has announced the top 10 most sought-after universities for the 2024/2025 academic session, with the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) leading the list for the sixth consecutive year with 64,143 applicants, followed closely by Lagos State University (LASU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG).


The Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the official list of schools with the most subscribed candidates for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This list was unveiled during the 2024 JAMB Policy meeting, ongoing today 18th July 2024.
From the list, the University of Ilorin (UNILORIIN) retained its position as the most subscribed University in Nigeria, with 64,143 applicants. UNILORIN has remained the most sought-after university in the country for over 6 years, back to back.
Second on the list was the Lagos State University (LASU), with 62,601 applicants. This University made a surprise appearance on the leaderboard. It was NOT in the top 10 list of sought-after Universities from 2020 to 2022. In 2023, it rose to 3rd position.
Third on the list is the University of Lagos (UNILAG), with 59,105 applicants. The school’s position went low this year. In the last 3 years (2021 – 2023), the school has become 2nd most sought-after school.
Fourth on the list is the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) with 55,481 applicants. This was the school’s exact position in 2023. However, in 2022, 2021, and 2020, it was Nigeria’s 6th, 7th, and 4th most subscribed university, respectively.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), came fifth on the list, with 54,495 applicants. In 2023, the school was in 8th position while in 2022 and 2021, the school came 3rd and 4th.
