The Federal Government’s meeting with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), scheduled for today, has been postponed, with the new date set for Wednesday, August 28.
ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke confirmed the change, but no reason was provided for the delay.
The meeting was intended to address ASUU’s concerns, including the government’s failure to honor a 2009 agreement, which had led ASUU to threaten a nationwide strike.
The union’s demands include improvements in welfare, increased university funding, and addressing the proliferation of universities.
