Adekunle Gold Addresses Men Following the Killing of FUNAAB Student

Adekunle Gold has urged men to hold each other accountable and stand against abuse and violence towards women in response to the tragic abduction and murder of FUNAAB student Idowu Christianah by a fellow student.

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has used his social media platform to address men in response to the tragic death of Idowu Christianah, a student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

Earlier reports by Gistreel stated that on August 19, 2024, Idowu Christianah went missing after her abductors used her WhatsApp account to contact her parents, sharing photos of her in captivity and demanding a ₦1.5 million ransom. Despite the parents’ desperate negotiations, during which the kidnappers agreed to a reduced sum of ₦350,000, Christianah was not released and was ultimately killed.

Further investigations uncovered that Adeleye Ayomide, a student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), was responsible for Christianah’s abduction and murder, subsequently burying her on his property. Additional reports indicate that Ayomide might have also been involved in the suspicious deaths of his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his sister in 2020.

Reacting to the news, Adekunle Gold took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to deliver a powerful message to men. He wrote:

“Men, true strength is not about staying silent but about standing up to your friends who abuse, rape, or demean women. Let’s redefine masculinity by holding each other accountable. #JusticeforChristianah.”
