200-Level Student Who Abducted and Killed FUNAAB Undergraduate Attended Same Church

Ayomide Adeleye, a 200-level student at Olabisi Onabanjo University, kidnapped, killed, and attempted to extort ransom from the family of Christianah Idowu, a 300-level FUNAAB student who attended the same church, before being tracked and arrested by authorities.

Ayomide Adeleye, a 200-level Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, has been identified as the individual who kidnapped and murdered Christianah Idowu, a 300-level student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). Both Adeleye and Idowu attended the same church.

According to an Allschool report, Idowu had left her home in Itaoluwo, Ikorodu, heading for the University of Lagos where she was doing her industrial training before she was abducted. FIJ, an online publication, revealed that Adeleye and Idowu were acquaintances because they both studied in Ogun State and shared the same place of worship.

A source disclosed: “On that Sunday, Christianah, who typically commutes to UNILAG on weekends and returns home on Fridays, left her house as usual. While on her way, it started raining heavily, and she took shelter in Adeleye’s family shop, located just outside his house. Adeleye invited her inside when the downpour intensified.”

Inside the house, Adeleye attempted to take advantage of Idowu, but when she resisted, he killed her. Later, when Idowu was unreachable, Adeleye contacted her family using her phone, demanding a ransom of N3 million, which was negotiated down to N350,000.

In a viral post on X, a user named @letter_to_jack revealed that intelligence operatives tracked the abductor’s location using the BVN and account details linked to the ransom payment.

At 8:50 PM on the same day, Adeleye, using Idowu’s phone, sent a message to her mother via WhatsApp saying, “Hello Madam, you have such a beautiful daughter. How much are you willing to pay to see her again? We have her in our custody.” He even sent two pictures of Idowu, with one showing her already deceased, held up by Adeleye.

He initially demanded N3 million and threatened, “We will ‘off’ your child and sell her parts.” In subsequent messages, Adeleye, pretending to be a northerner, stated he would accept N400,000 if paid promptly. He claimed, “If I collect anything less than N1.5 million from you, that is me helping you.”

Adeleye also boasted about his involvement in organ trafficking, stating, “My job is to get people, young and healthy, mostly aged 18-40. If there is no immediate demand for organs, we ask the families for ransom. If they comply, we set the victims free; if not, we keep them until they are needed for harvesting.”

When Idowu’s mother said she could only raise N350,000 through church donations, Adeleye suggested involving Idowu’s school friends to gather more funds.

Upon his arrest, the authorities found seven phones and an email address linked to a statement of account confirming the ransom payment. They froze the Wema Bank account (9336380839) used by Adeleye after Idowu’s mother transferred N350,000 to it on August 21.

Adeleye also created an email address, [email protected], to align with the northern identity he assumed. After facing difficulties accessing the ransom money, he demanded more funds through Idowu’s bank account. Despite receiving an additional N10,000, he criticized the victim’s mother, saying, “Just 10k, madam? I thought you said you had more.”

Adeleye continued to string the family along, assuring them he would resolve the issues with the N350,000. He sent another message on August 23, wishing the family a good weekend and added a Hausa phrase, “Na gode sai ku,” meaning “Thank you, and you,” to maintain his false identity.

On Sunday, the military’s 174 Battalion tracked Idowu’s phone to Adeleye’s residence, where they arrested him. He confessed to burying Idowu in a shallow grave on his property. During interrogation, Adeleye attempted suicide but was restrained, sources reported to FIJ.
