19-Year-Old LAUTECH Student Crowned Miss Oyo 2024, Wins Hummer H3 SUV


Oladimeji Mercy Esther, a 19-year-old LAUTECH student, was crowned Miss Oyo 2024 at a prestigious event in Ibadan, winning a Hummer H3 SUV and receiving accolades for her educational and leadership potential.


Oladimeji Mercy Esther, a 19-year-old Science Laboratory Technology student at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), has been crowned Miss Oyo State 2024. Born in Ibadan, she is a 300-level student and now the latest beauty queen of the state.

The prestigious event was held at Jogor Events Centre, Liberty Road, Oke Ado, Ibadan, and attended by prominent dignitaries, including Oyo State First Lady Tamunominini Makinde, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, musician Yinka Ayefele, and Nurudeen Akinade, representing Dotun Sanusi, Chairman of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort.

Billionaire businessman Dotun Sanusi donated a Hummer H3 SUV as the grand prize for the winner and distributed bags of rice and chickens to hundreds of raffle ticket winners.

The panel of judges featured notable personalities, including Oyo State Commissioner for Energy, Seun Ashamu; FRIN Director General, Ibrahim Lawal; Actress Toyin Adegbola; and Abeo Folashade Nurudeen.

In her remarks, First Lady Tamunominini Makinde urged the organizers to incorporate a mentorship program into the annual pageant. She also encouraged the contestants to prioritize education and skill acquisition alongside their beauty to secure a brighter future.

The event was organized by Mayor Isaac Brown, CEO of Silverstone Communications, in collaboration with Fresh FM Ibadan and other media partners. Brown expressed gratitude to the sponsors, who played a significant role in the success of the 21st edition of the Miss Oyo pageant.
