The Sultan of Sokoto has appointed Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, Kebbi State First Lady, as North West Ambassador for Girl Child Education in recognition of her efforts to advance education and Islamic values in the region.


The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has conferred the title of North West Ambassador for Girl Child Education on Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, the First Lady of Kebbi State.
The appointment was announced during a ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, where the Sultan praised the First Lady for her unwavering dedication to advancing girl child education across the region. According to a statement by her Press Secretary, Khadija Said, the event highlighted her significant contributions, which have earned her acknowledgment from the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) program.
The Sultan, who is also the Grand Patron of AGILE and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, commended Hajiya Zainab for her efforts in returning girls to school and supporting educational initiatives in Kebbi State.
“We are proud of your achievements in education,” he said. “You deserve this Ambassadorial role to champion the cause of girl child education throughout the North West. Ensure our girls return to classrooms and pursue knowledge to any level they aspire.”
In a related development, Hajiya Zainab was honored with the prestigious title of Khadimatul Qur’an by the Musabaqah Foundation for Qur’anic Recitation of Nigeria, under the Centre for Islamic Studies at Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.
The award was presented during the closing ceremony of the 39th National Qur’an Recitation Competition, hosted by the Kebbi State Government at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi.
The Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodio University, Professor Bashar Garba, praised the First Lady for her steadfast dedication to promoting Islamic values and inspiring young women to excel in both religious and secular education.
“Your exemplary leadership has provided a strong foundation for young minds to embrace Qur’anic knowledge and enrich the spiritual fabric of Kebbi State,” he said.
He also highlighted her contributions to developing Qur’anic and Islamiyyah schools, emphasizing her role in uplifting the Ummah and preserving the sanctity of the Qur’an.
Expressing her gratitude, Hajiya Zainab Nasare thanked the organizers for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to prioritizing girl child education while promoting moral and spiritual values in society.
“I am deeply honored by this recognition and remain dedicated to ensuring every girl has access to education and opportunities for a brighter future,” she stated.
