Omoboriowo Samson Loye, a first-class graduate in civil engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), achieved a remarkable CGPA of 4.63 despite facing significant setbacks, including scoring 0/40 on his first test and enduring challenges that could have derailed his academic journey.
Omoboriowo’s journey began with a harsh lesson when he forgot to shade the paper type on his first mid-semester exam, earning a zero. This early setback affected his confidence and led to a difficult first semester. He also faced another blow in his fourth year when a B grade in a critical 9-unit IT course caused his CGPA to drop.
Determined to recover, Omoboriowo devised a plan to maximize his remaining marks, earning a C in the challenging chemistry course. In his final year, he achieved a perfect GPA, demonstrating resilience and commitment to excellence.
Omoboriowo credited his success to disciplined planning, starting his studies early, attending lectures regularly, and engaging in group study sessions. He surrounded himself with supportive peers, actively participated in classes, and sought help when needed.
Omoboriowo’s academic achievements have opened doors to mentorship programs, research opportunities, and advanced studies abroad. He aims to specialize in transportation systems, aspiring to become a consultant in transportation policy and eventually a professor of transportation engineering.
