Young Nigerian Achieves Full Scholarship to UNILAG, Graduates with Honors in Chemistry

Akinseinde Oluwasetmipe, a young Nigerian, has successfully graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with Second Class Upper Honors from the University of Lagos, thanks to the KPMG Scholarship Program that supported him throughout his studies despite various challenges.

Akinseinde Oluwasetmipe, a young Nigerian, has reached an impressive milestone by graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), earning a Second Class Upper Honors distinction through the esteemed KPMG Scholarship Program.

In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Akinseinde shared that he was awarded the KPMG scholarship in 2018, which fully funded his tuition fees throughout his university studies, enabling him to concentrate on his academic pursuits without financial worries.

KPMG Professional Services and KPMG Advisory Services are part of the KPMG network in Nigeria. Their University Scholarship Program supports a selection of Nigerian students during their tertiary education, providing a comprehensive scholarship that includes accommodation costs. Akinseinde’s educational path was not void of challenges. Throughout his journey, he faced numerous obstacles, including extended academic strikes, the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and rising tuition fees. These challenges prolonged his intended four-year program to six years, yet he displayed remarkable resilience and determination.

“Today marks a significant milestone in my academic journey as I officially graduate from the Department of Chemistry, University of Lagos. This achievement reflects the power of perseverance and determination,” he expressed.

Akinseinde expressed deep appreciation to God for His guidance during his journey, to the KPMG board for their sponsorship and belief in his abilities, as well as to his parents and siblings for their unwavering support.

He extended his gratitude to his lecturers, course advisor, department head, thesis supervisor, and the Dean of the Faculty of Science for their invaluable mentorship and encouragement. Akinseinde also acknowledged the important role of his colleagues and friends in contributing to his success.

Beyond his academic accomplishments, Akinseinde held the position of Public Relations Officer for the Department of Chemistry, appreciating the department and the Faculty of Science for facilitating his opportunity to develop beyond academic pursuits.

With the knowledge, skills, and resilience he has cultivated at the University of Lagos, Akinseinde is eager to embrace the next chapter of his journey.
