JAMB has permanently blacklisted six CBT officials for exam malpractice, warned institutions against illegal registrations, and reported a rise in underage candidates amid smooth UTME registration.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has permanently blacklisted six Computer-Based Test (CBT) officials for their alleged involvement in registration malpractice during the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, announced this on Monday while addressing journalists after inspecting CBT centers in Ilorin, Kwara State. He stated that the six officials, who were engaged by JAMB from different institutions across Nigeria, have been banned for life from participating in any JAMB-related activities.
“These individuals were caught engaging in examination malpractice. We have their details and will continue monitoring them, even if they become professors or are appointed as Vice-Chancellors in the future,” Oloyede said.
Additionally, one senior university official is currently facing prosecution for an admission-related crime, while four others remain under investigation and on JAMB’s watchlist.
JAMB had previously caught ten institutions registering candidates at night, a practice that is strictly prohibited. The affected institutions have received official warnings. Oloyede reiterated that CBT centers are not allowed to store or manipulate candidates’ registration templates.
As of Monday afternoon, a total of 420,674 candidates had been registered for the 2025/2026 UTME, with 32,435 candidates registered on Monday alone. This marks the fifth day of the registration exercise.
