The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has directed the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor and Principal Officers of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), to ensure the institution admits its first students by September.


Speaking at the inauguration of Principal Officers for NABTEB, UBEC, and FUMMSA, the Minister emphasized collaboration with JAMB and NUC for a seamless admissions process. He urged the Vice-Chancellor to establish a strong foundation for the university and ensure essential infrastructure is in place.
Dr. Alausa highlighted the need for FUMMSA’s programs to align with national and global healthcare demands, particularly in nursing, medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry.
Other appointed officials include Dr. Mohammed Aminu, Registrar, NABTEB; Tunde Ajibulu, Deputy Executive Secretary (Service), UBEC; and Olajuwon Akinyebi, Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), UBEC.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to quality education and strengthening the healthcare workforce, the Minister also discussed ongoing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) reforms.
Praising President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, he emphasized the administration’s dedication to an improved public service environment.
On behalf of the new appointees, FUMMSA Vice-Chancellor Professor Fatiu Arogundade expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and pledged to uphold integrity, transparency, and excellence in education.
