Police Investigate Sudden Death of 20-Year-Old Babcock University Graduate

Police in Ogun State are investigating the sudden death of 20-year-old Babcock University graduate Akawa Boluwatife Samuel, who was found unresponsive by his roommates after complaining of cold and breathing difficulties days earlier, just as he was preparing to complete his graduation clearance.

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an official investigation into the sudden and tragic death of Akawa Boluwatife Samuel, a 20-year-old recent graduate of Information Technology from Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State.

According to reports from security and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Boluwatife was rushed to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital by his roommates on Wednesday morning. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending medical doctor. His unexpected passing has raised concern among students and faculty, prompting immediate involvement by local law enforcement.

Police detectives dispatched to the university campus gathered initial statements, including one from a roommate, Adili Leonard Chimdindu, who stated that Boluwatife began complaining of cold symptoms and difficulty breathing as early as July 27. He was advised to seek medical attention at the university’s medical centre, but it remains unclear whether he followed through on that recommendation.

According to Chimdindu, Boluwatife remained in seemingly good health the night before his death. He reportedly spent the evening playing video games on his laptop and interacting with his friends until approximately 11:00 p.m. The following morning, however, he was found unresponsive in bed, prompting an emergency response.

The students had returned to campus to complete their final clearance procedures in preparation for graduation. Boluwatife was said to be excited about finishing school and looking forward to returning home to his family.

Investigators took photographs of the scene and documented key evidence. A formal statement was obtained from the deceased’s elder brother, Akawa Toluwanimi John, who was present at the hospital. Boluwatife’s body has since been deposited in the university morgue, where it awaits autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The police have assured the public and the university community that a thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the circumstances surrounding the young graduate’s death. Meanwhile, students and faculty have expressed shock and sorrow over the loss of one of their own so close to graduation.
