Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University dismissed two professors, two senior lecturers, and a principal assistant registrar over allegations of gross misconduct, including ethical violations and abuse-related offenses.


Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has dismissed five members of staff, including two professors, two senior lecturers, and a principal assistant registrar, following allegations of gross misconduct.
The decision was approved during the university’s 122nd Governing Council meeting. According to the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Harrison Madubueze, the action reflects the university’s commitment to upholding discipline and ethical standards.
Among those dismissed are C.C. Nwabachili and Chike Osegbue, both professors at the institution.
Also affected are I.H. Iheukwumere and Emeka Nwabunnia from the Department of Microbiology. The university said they were dismissed over allegations including sexual abuse, harassment, intimidation, extortion, and other ethical violations.
The fifth staff member is Ifeoma Kakulu, who served as an examination officer in the Faculty of Law at the time of the incident that led to her dismissal.
University authorities stressed that misconduct capable of damaging the institution’s reputation will not be tolerated. They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a safe, accountable, and forward-looking academic environment.
