Twin brothers Adrian and Ainsley Dondo graduated together from Keele University with biomedical science degrees and are continuing their journey side by side by pursuing internships and careers in the same field.
Identical twin brothers Adrian and Ainsley Dondo have celebrated a remarkable milestone after graduating together from Keele University in England with degrees in Biomedical Science, continuing a lifelong journey of studying side by side.
The 22-year-old brothers, who are from Bradford and were born just one minute apart, spent four years studying the same course at the same university before collecting their degrees together at the institution’s graduation ceremony. They are now preparing to begin internships in Milton Keynes as they work toward becoming biomedical scientists.
The twins said choosing the same degree came naturally because they had always shared a passion for science. Ainsley explained that neither brother influenced the other’s decision, adding that their common interests and career ambitions naturally led them down the same academic path.
Adrian said they also chose Keele University because of its strong reputation in biomedical science and because they believed they would perform better if they remained together. He described the move to university as a major life change and said separating for higher education never felt like the right decision.
Throughout their studies, the brothers relied on each other for motivation, revision sessions and emotional support. Adrian said having someone to exchange ideas with, prepare for examinations alongside and encourage during difficult moments made university life less overwhelming and helped them stay focused.
Their relationship also included friendly academic competition. Ainsley revealed that they regularly challenged each other to achieve higher grades, sometimes making small bets, such as buying the other a McDonald’s meal if one scored better. Adrian said the rivalry remained light-hearted and motivated both of them to work harder while always wishing each other success.
Beyond academics, the brothers lived in neighbouring rooms at the university and both played on Keele University’s basketball team. Adrian also supported Ainsley through personal challenges that temporarily affected his studies, strengthening their bond during their time on campus.
Reflecting on their shared university experience, Ainsley said it was remarkable how closely their lives had mirrored one another, while Adrian described graduating alongside his twin as a proud and surreal moment.
Although they will continue together during their internships, the brothers acknowledged that their paths will eventually separate once they begin working in different professional roles, marking the first major step in pursuing their careers independently.
