UNN First-Year Student Kidnapped After Meeting Boyfriend, Kidnappers Demand 5.5 Million Naira Ransom

A 100 level student, Chukwuemeka Philomina Ekpereamaka, a student at the Education English department at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has been reported kidnapped after she went to pay a visit to her boyfriend.

Chukwuemeka Philomina Ekpereamaka, a first-year student in the Education English department at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has been reported kidnapped. The incident occurred around noon on July 14, 2024, near Bello Hostel on the university campus.

According to Myschoolnews, Ekpereamaka had told her hostel mates that she was going to meet her boyfriend downstairs. Shortly thereafter, she was found to be missing from the campus.

On the morning of July 15, 2024, the kidnappers contacted Ekpereamaka’s roommate, Chioma Ogbonna, demanding a ransom of 5.5 million naira for her release, using the phone number 08100322454.

In her last WhatsApp voice message to her roommate, Ekpereamaka revealed that her boyfriend had set her up, stating, “It seems he owes these people money, and they decided I won’t leave until they get their money. I don’t know how long I’ll be here, and this environment is very strange; I don’t know anywhere here.”

The Student Union Government (SUG) Director of Information confirmed the situation to Myschoolnews, stating that they are closely monitoring the developments. The university community is deeply concerned about Ekpereamaka’s safety and is urging authorities to take swift action.

This incident has caused widespread alarm on campus, highlighting ongoing security concerns and the urgent need for increased vigilance within the university.
